There’s so much to do, right? Los Santos is a huge city, but there’s the many miles of countryside outside of it, not to mention an entire ocean floor littered with collectibles. Where do you start? At the start, sure, but where to next that’s completed? There’s no wrong answer in GTA V. Research or not as you like.

Starting fresh
You’ll need to play through it all until you get to a point where you are ready to explore Los Santos and the neighboring region. Bear in mind your ability to change between multiple protagonists is limited at first. It is a good hour or 2 before you’ve got two characters to play with, and many hours more beyond that prior to the third joins the party. Overall, you are likely considering 3-5 hours of mainlining the narrative if you want to hold off on exploring until all three personalities are in the mix.

The entire map is open and accessible to explore from the very first time you set foot in Los Santos. Your only barrier is your in-game map, which can be shrouded at the start at a”fog of war” that gradually reveals itself as you explore more and more of what’s out there. For the ones that want to fill in some of the map prior to the story’s various assignments send you around, it’s useful to keep useful the paper map of this region that ships with the video game. It will not show you everything, but it highlights a range of the significant landmarks that are scattered across the world.

Getting around
It wouldn’t be a GTA video game if you weren’t stealing tons and tons of cars all the time. It is right there at the name, after all. You’ll find the same diverse mixture of vehicles — with wheelswith wings, and with rudders — roaming the streets that you did in past games. Storing cars that you’ve stolen remains an alternative, but it works a little differently in GTA V.

Every safehouse comes with a distance where you can store a car or two, however all the three personalities also has his very own garage. Franklin, Michael, and Trevor-specific map icons are marked blue, green, and orange, respectively, and also this color coding helps to identify every one of their garages. Drive or walk around a and press right on the D-pad when the prompt appears so as to enter it. Inside, there’s enough space to get a handful of vehicles, at least 5 or six. It works like the garages of previous matches; choose a car from the garage, and it’s gone until you store it again. Abandon a stolen car (rather than wrecking it), and you might have the ability to find it from the video game’s impound lot.

Franklin, Michael, and Trevor also all have their particular character-specific automobile that always spawn outside of whichever safehouse you are visiting. You’ll want to mod these automobiles early, since any upgrades adhere even if you lose or ruin the car and need to catch a replacement in the safehouse. Focus on the armor first, then the engine and anything else that improves acceleration (such as turbo pruning ). Also be sure to grab bulletproof tires. Note that these three vehicles are the only ones you can customize using the iFruit companion program. You’ll come to recognize them fast as you meet each personality.

Boats and planes work a bit differently, so you are going to need to buy dock space in the local marina and a hangar to store those. Otherwise it’s the same. Leave the vehicle you want to store in the appropriate storage location, and it’ll be waiting for you when you come back.

For up-and-coming auto thieves, you will find the best rides in and around Vinewood. Keep a look out for sport cars. You’ll want to have Franklin around to boost automobiles; he can get in and get you started more quickly than Michael or even Trevor thanks to his background as a repo man, and he does not need to break a window to be able to do so.

Getting away
Sooner or later, the cops are going to come after you. That is alright. That can be GTA, after all. It will help to know the way you can get away though. Split their line of sight and the flashing stops and the police begin to consciously search for you, with your last known location as a starting point. You’ll see each cop or police automobile emphasized on the minimap having a vision cone extending out from it when they are in search style.

The secret out of here is easy, in theory at least: stick from these vision cones. That isn’t always attainable given the layouts of the roads and freeways around Los Santos, but it’s what you need to do. There’s no on-screen indicator that communicates how long you’ve left until the police call off their search. Your wanted level simply flashes to allow you to know they’re hunting, and disappears entirely when they call it quits.

There’s no real trick to getting away, you only have to be sensible. From the city proper, use alleyways and the empty spaces beneath raised roadways. The aqueduct might look like a good place to hide out, but you should be mindful that the fuzz will look in there as well. You might also look to any body of water that’s deep enough for you to dive under the surface of. You can not hold your breath indefinitely, but swimming underwater is good cover for getting away.

Away from the town, you will mostly just wish to prevent all roads. Generally speaking there’s an element of improvisation to vibration the heat. You’ve got to see your minimap, see where cops are spawning, and traveling in directions that steer you away out of their eyesight cones. Cops tends to spawn on roads or in parking lots, so heading out to the open state is always a trusted bet for vibration any serious heat. You may even try taking to the skies, but you should be mindful that police choppers start to spawn — in all altitudes — after you are at three stars or higher.

It is not long until you develop a healthy arsenal of firepower from GTA V. Your firearms stay with you after you’ve got them on your inventory, barring a handful of plot-specific minutes that limit what you’ve got access to. Ammu-Nation continues to be the weapons provider of choice from the GTA universe, and they are everywhere in Los Santos. Guns, gun mods, and ammo all cost money, with one notable exclusion: Trevor is such a huge deal up north in his Sandy Shores house the local Ammu-Nation there gives him all his firearms at no cost. Ensure that you stock up as soon as you’ve obtained control of Trevor.

Also worth noting: you are not faced with a one-or-the-other situation when you pick up multiple weapons of the same kind (ie pistols, SMGs, assault rifles, etc.). Holding LB on a Xbox 360 controller brings up the radial weapon wheel. A display in the middle of the wheel shows you that weapon you have selected along with a list of mods currently fitted to that weapon.

Making money
You get the majority of your money in GTA 5 Online Game by playing through each of the story-connected heists, but you’ve got plenty of different options if you want to create some fast cash. Convenience stores and liquor stores that you are ready to walk into can be robbed; it’s as simple as pointing a weapon in the cashier until he or she coughs up some money. Also watch out on the streets for armored automobiles; blow open the rear doors (or just blow it up) and you are going to receive cash from that as well.

Playing the stock market is always an alternative. The prior ties directly to the events of this video game, which means you will want to pay attention to what’s happening — and observe LCD closely — when your actions in the narrative relate to some organization or another. This is especially true for the assassination assignments that unlock roughly halfway through the narrative. Take note of whatever you are told from the pre- and – post-mission briefings for all these assassinations, ever since your murdering are intended to affect stock prices in one manner or another.

Then there’s BAWSAQ, which can be monitored on Rockstar Social Club affected by the behavior of the overall GTA 5 Online Game neighborhood. If a great deal of people are stealing one type of automobile or robbing one store particularly, the stock on BAWSAQ associated with it is going to change. Always remember the simple principle of playing the stock market: buy low, sell highquality.

There are still other ways to earn money outside that. If your minimap suddenly strobes whitened, watch for blue or red dots there; this can be an indication that one of the energetic”citizen needing” minutes is occurring. Occasionally it’s a pickpocket, occasionally it’s a gang shootout, and occasionally it’s only a random drunk couple searching for a ride. You may earn a little extra scratch by helping these people out… or not. Why yield the $2,000 you’ve only regained, to the lady over there when she’s going to take it back and provide you a $200 reward? Why drive lone hitchhiker to his wedding when you can just as easily sell him off to some cannibalistic mountain cult that pays handsomely for new meat (true story)?

Strangers and Freaks
There’s more of a very clear split between critical path missions and optional assignments in GTA 5 Online Game than there ever was before in the sequence. The Strangers and Freaks missions generally follow their particular plot thread; after you’ve met a specific personality for the first time, all succeeding mission markers in their narrative are identified on your minimap as an icon consisting of a question mark and the first letter of this mission-giver’s name.

When the character change interface appears, you will usually observe a number over each personality portrait. This number denotes how many assignments the personality has not yet begun; if there’s no quantity, there aren’t any new assignments to be accumulated.

Skills and unique abilities
Each playable character has his own group of ability bars relating to shooting capability, driving, flying, endurance, and the like. These abilities all improve with repetition (ie the more you run, the higher your endurance score gets), however there are different ways to improve them as well. Flight School offers a simple route to maxing out your flying skill — you will get there before you complete all the challenges — and doing so cuts down on the quantity of turbulence that personality experiences in flight. Seeing an Ammu-Nation shooting range, on the other hand, offers a chance to boost your shooting. There’s generally a nominal fee for a lot of the stuff, but it’s minor ($15 for a round in the shooting range, by way of example).

Special abilities are also unique to each personality, although they’re all activated (and deactivated) in precisely the same manner: press back on the left and right thumbsticks in precisely the same moment. Franklin’s unique allows him to slow down time while he’s driving. Vehicles also accelerate more quickly and lose less momentum after accidents while the particular is active. It is extremely useful for some of the story’s tighter chase assignments and getaways, but it’s helpful whenever you want to do a tiny precision driving.

Michael has the same basic capability as Franklin, except for him time slows down when he’s on foot. When his unique is active, Michael is essentially only channeling Max Payne’s bullet-time feature. He is more deadly because he’s moving faster than anyone else on earth. Trevor also becomes more fatal when his unique is active, but not due to bullet-time. Rather, Trevor goes to a rage mode that makes his weapons do more damage when reducing the harm he takes.

Each exceptional ability serves a function in different scenarios. Franklin is clearly the wheel guy. Michael is best employed as a sniper, since his bullet-time capability makes scoring headshots at extreme ranges no problem in any way. Trevor is best saved for all-out assaults, those moments when you really just need some nutjob with a shotgun to run in and clean a space out. Each character’s special meter — visible as a yellow bar in the bottom left corner of this display, beneath the minimap — refills automatically over time.

Stuff you should try
Now that you’ve got the basics down, here are a couple of specific things that you might want to test out, or keep in mind. Got some of your own? Or some other tips that weren’t mentioned here?

Head your airspace: Here’s a professional tip that should help everyone. Most of us are likely going to need to hop in that blimp straight away and fly around. That is alright. It is a slow-moving beast, but it’s a neat way to tour around the map. Keep one thing in mind though: restricted airspace is not your friend. Be careful not to fly the blimp over the airport or the prison or the military base. It is a crap escape vehicle, being that it’s a giant freaking balloon floating in the skies.

The most dependable way to sneak a jet that we’ve discovered: fill Trevor’s unique meter, get a helicopter, and fly high over Fort Zancudo (if you are large enough, you won’t activate the alerts ). Once that’s completed, skydive down to the foundation. You are aiming for the big open hangar that’s adjacent to the runway. There’s always a jet inside. Activate Trevor’s unique as soon as you hit the ground and make a beeline for your jet. Then get the hell out of there. You’ve got enough acceleration that you should be able to remove as soon as you clean the hangar.

Channel your inner Jacques Cousteau: There’s a substantial chunk of property in GTA 5 Online Game in the base of the ocean. Besides an range of optional mission collectibles, you may frequently find armor and weapons missing one of the seaweed as well. Before you can explore, however, you’ll need scuba gear. Roughly midway through the video game you are going to have the ability to obtain a business up north known as Sonar Collections. This gives you access to your submarine, and you are automatically wearing a scuba tank whenever you bail from it. You’ll also unlock a Strangers and Freaks mission that provides you with access to some Zodiak vessel; like the sub, you are scuba-equipped whenever you bail from this one.

Build your empire: There’s another route to earning cash that we did not get into over: going legit. A number of businesses available for purchase are scattered across Los Santos. You’ll probably have to make some money from a couple of heists until you may start buying up serious property, but doing so gives the character that owns the house — yes, ownership is character-specific — a weekly influx of cash. You’ll also occasionally acquire optional assignments linked to your owned businesses that improve your income. Be aware though: these are on a timer. Act quickly when you have the call or you will miss your chance. You can not mess up your business by missing these, but your weekly earnings will take a hit.

Find all the items: The narrative in GTA 5 Online Game visits many locations in Los Santos, but a lot of others have been skipped over. You won’t visit the prison or the military base. You won’t find any concerts in the town’s Hollywood Bowl knock-off, also you won’t bury any bodies under the Vinewood sign. Ensure that you get out there and really explore. There’s a lot of small tidbits hidden away. Can you find the abandoned hippie commune? The mountain fort from this Altruist Cult? The wind farm? Discover these and other areas, and keep them in mind. Remember: GTA Online is arriving on October 1, and in that point the map becomes a giant playground for you and your friends.

Tricks
Naturally there are cheats. GTA games always have them. You are under no obligation to utilize them, and we will not judge you if you do. These cheats will provide you different ways to enjoy the video game, however they will not be useful for unlocking anything. Keep that in mind before you use them.
